Today's personal highlight was to discover Emilie Chick's Viinyl page had been included by the Canadian start up in their video presentation as Midemnet Lab finalists.
Shameless self-promotion? Absolutely not. It's typically what I love about Midem : you get to discover and meet the teams of fabulous new start ups who, year in-year out, come up with fabulous ideas for managers and bands to help promote their music.
It's about being a step ahead in how technology and services can help provide much needed tools to empower artists to get their art out there in a simple and efficient way.
In this particular situation : viinyl is completely free for artists and users. And it's above all incredibly fast and simple to set up. Kapow! There you go, that's done, now you can spend your time actually promoting the artist and her music rather than spending hours on something else like setting up a not-so-nice-looking page with links blah blah blah.
I spent maybe an hour in the Midemnet Lab today just watching a good bunch of the finalists' video presentations. Here are a some of the ones that really caught my attention and will try and go and meet tomorrow : Airbuzz, Jammbox, Nearverse (LoKast), Steam Republic ("Mobile Backstage"), Decibel (no available website?!), Gigswiz, JinglePunks, Merchluv, The Next Big Sound and Thounds. Many possibilites, some of which immediately came to mind. Ooh Ahh.
And speaking of the future, as everyone is talking about and thinking "mobile", you might as well do as after you've read Mobile Roadie CEO Michael Schneider's insightful input.
