Emilie Chick - News

I haven't written a proper update on Unicum in aaaaages, so I'm starting a series of artist-focused ones that I'll be posting more regularly from now on.

Starting off with Emilie Chick, who has been particularly busy since I last wrote an update (which was way back in the days of our wordpress website...).

"SCHOLARSHIP" MUSIC VIDEO
First things first, we shot a music video for "Scholarship" with young audiovisual production company and friends Joss & Marc from SOBAM
It was the very 1st video shoot ever for Emilie - who did it all like a pro : smoking a cigar until we got the right picture just before lunch then eating a greasy hamburger just after lunch for art's sake, wearing the heaviest boots ever and pretend-walking for hours on end  - all just loads of fuuuun.
Allomusic came in for an interview and a photo report and the video + making of were featured on the Nikon's French blog (thanks to whom we got a super quality image in the video because they lent us the latest D3S). If you haven't seen the result, here it is, hope you like it.

"SCHOLARSHIP" ON THE RADIO
Between the video release and Emilie winning the award for "Best album" for the European Music Press at Europavox/Deezer de Talents/Adami festival last May, "Scholarship" got played on 15 radios in 10 countries : the USA, France, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Greece, Latvia, Colombia, Burkina Faso and New Zealand. More radio to come...

INTERNATIONAL DIGITAL RELEASE OF THE ALBUM (USA, UK, AUS, NZ)
For those of you who live in Europe, you might remember Emilie's 1st solo album was physically released via the excellent La Baleine in France, and digitally across Continental Europe via Believe Digital last March.
It took us some time, but we finally got around to making the album available in all the digital stores of the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand...this week, yay!

BIG UP TO EMILIE'S SOUTH AFRICAN FANS WHO ARE GROWING BY THE DAY, LOVING HER VOICE AND HER MUSIC!
We know the whole digital distribution circuit isn't exactly flourishing there yet (for those who don't believe me, do me a favour and change your iTunes store country parameters to South Africa and see what you find), we made the album available on her Bandcamp page. For sure, it's a slightly more expensive but that's because it includes Paypal & Bandcamp's respective fees and that you can choose from many different format and quality combinations - the rest goes directly to Emilie.

MORE NEWS?
Yes! We've actually got lots more in store (gigs, new releases, etc...) and we're waiting for footage of Emilie's latest gig in the South of France at Akwaba which was mythical. I'll be back with exciting news soon, but that'll have to be all for today.
