Jumble fair #4

Happy New Year 2011 Everyone !
This year is starting with a bang but I'll be posting more about that later.
Today it's just about music I'm currently obsessed with. Literally. Stuff I hear or people recommend and that never ceases to amaze me. Thank you.

I don't remember a song having made me want to pick up singing in the shower again since Rhianna's "Word Love / 4Hero Soul Mix". (Nothing to do the Rihanna everyone knows). It's sweet, full of hope and just damn catchy - ooh aah.

- Kutiman ! Most of you who know him probably discovered him via his "Thru-You" project ("The Mother Of All Funk Chords" !! "Just a lady" !!). Being a Pogo fan, it's not surprising I'm totally won over, but his eye for video is truly amazing too. I want to go to Israel now. FACT.

- Last but not least : the unexpected but brilliant collaboration between Erik Truffaz Quartet and Sophie Hunger on "Let Me Go !". The way they both just majestically take the time to develop the melodic line, the arrangements, despite the emergency of the message, makes me want to cling onto the song's  atmosphere for that little bit longer and keep playing it over again.

Enjoy !!

More links, videos, other. Just in time for the week-end. So...

The Dø - Slippery Slope
- I have to say, this post has been triggered by my sudden obsession for The Do's lastest video, that they premiered today. The colours and the light are beautiful, the singer strangely looks like actress Marina Hands and the music is exceptional.

- I'm glad I launched an advent calendar for Unicum as it's been a real treat to choose all the songs that make me think of Christmas. Some of them aren't Christmassy at all. No particular genre orientation. Just personal reasons. I like it like that. Hope you do too.

- Do you know what Quincy Jones' favourite motto is? "Life, love, laugh."

- My favourite dance track these last two (three?) weeks (months?!) has been Discodeine's "Synchronize" feat. Jarvis Cocker. 100% Positive Feelgood Vibes.

- As far as music industry news is concerned, I don't think the week could have ended in a nicer way than reading about Mute's company-consolidation plans now that it is back in the indie world. I'm ecstatic for Daniel Miller, actually. It's really not even about EMI (that all those lacking anything interesting to say nowadays think it's real smart to take aim at). My joy for Mute is really about their plans: it just seems like a long-awaited and long-overdue family reunion. With the right people at the right time in the right place. They will achieve greatness. Oh yes they will.

I just feel like listing a bunch of links today : mp3s, videos other... What made my week or so since I last posted, a little web - radio - TV session if you like. So in no particular order :

- I am obsessed with Pogo at the moment - "Wishery" in particular

- I am increasingly bored with hype and toppers

- I get hungry every time I watch OK Go's latest video, which I try not to watch too soon before lunch or breakfast

- For personal reasons, I found particular comfort in Charles Webster's remix of Emilie Chick's "The Next Day"

- To my delight, I discovered that Chilly Gonzalez had remixed Daft Punk which got me back on my feet, all pumped up again. And when I saw this little video, I couldn't ask for better to prove my point.
